7 types of people to let go of

Image
"Sometimes, you have to remove people without warning. We are getting too old to be explaining what they already know they are doing wrong." — Farrah Gray Everyone who enters our life is either a blessing or a lesson. Some people are not good for our health. They're just too costly for our well-being.  Many of us have been serving life sentences in relationships that have been draining us for years. It's high time to part ways with toxic people. Save what's left of yourself. Life is too short to continue living like this. You know that you deserve much better. It's time to start living as if you do. Here are seven types of people to let go of. You may not be able to immediately remove these persons from your environment, but you can try to limit your interactions with them as much as possible. Types of people who'll ruin your life ! 1. Controlling people who take you for a fool.  You deserve to know the truth. Stop taking the run-around from people. Stop...

How to prepare yourself for life in the new year.

Image
You may have heard others talking about their new year's goals, vision boards, calendars, etc., but you're just blank. No goals, no vision boards, no plans whatsoever.  I'm here to help you reduce some of your new year's blues. Here are a few things that you can do to prepare yourself for life in the new year. I believe God has a path for me. He's always had a path for me, and I've always been in the right place at the right time - not because of my efforts, but because of my preparation and because of the guides that I have, the mentors that I have, the spiritual walkers that I've had all my life. Judith Jamison 1. Avoid feeling overwhelmed by other people's goals. There are many podcasts and videos of others talking about their objectives for the new year. It would appear as if they have their new year's resolutions all figured out, and you're just lagging.  It will stress you out the more you think about it. There's no need to feel like...

How can I be kinder to others?

Image
“It’s easy to judge. It’s more difficult to understand. Understanding requires compassion, patience, and a willingness to believe that good hearts sometimes choose poor methods. Through judging, we separate. Through understanding, we grow.” ~Doe Zantamata  One morning on my way to school, I had a terrible fall.  My knees were badly bruised and I began to cry. A sweet lady took me up from the asphalt, carried me to her house, and she dressed my knees. It has been over twenty years, and I haven't forgotten how good she was to me that morning. I can still hear her consoling me as she gently nursed my wounds. The moral of the story is, people will always remember how you made them feel.  Sometimes it's the little things that we do that occupy the biggest part of people's lives. It could be that you gave someone a glass of water to cool their thirst. Or a word of advice when life had them at rock bottom. The little things that seemed insignificant to you, meant the worl...

How to get past a bitter disappointment.

Image
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” – Martin Luther King Have you ever invested your precious time and energy into someone or something that you were a hundred percent sure about, but you were left distraught at the last minute?  Those heart-wrenching moments when you wish someone would say that it's only a dream. But you're stuck in reality, you're about to get a headache, you feel nauseous, and you need to get on the toilet, now.  I've been down this road several times.   I thought that many things in my life would work out alright, but they didn't. I'll share with you some of the things I do to get past my worst disappointments. Of course, prayer is my main weapon, but most importantly, I choose not to forget the lessons.  Working hard towards anything in life, will not stop you from being disappointed.  “Disappointment is inevitable. But to become discouraged, there’s a choice I make.” – Charles Stanley Adapting all t...

How to offer great emotional support to others.

Image
“Our way is not soft grass; it’s a mountain path with lots of rocks. But it goes upwards, forward, toward the sun.” Ruth Westheimer Reach out to me if you need anything! How often have you heard that?  Many times people speak boldly about what they would do for us. But they don't always come through when they're needed most.     Presence doesn't mean that someone is available. Having people around doesn't mean that we're not alone. You could be seeing someone every day, yet they're still emotionally absent from your life.  There are times when life takes us through the motions. There are moments when we need someone to connect with on an emotional level. Those trying times when our backs are against the wall, wondering where to turn and who to turn to. Below I'll share a few things that you can do to help someone who needs your emotional support. How to comfort someone who is going through a hard time ! 1. Don't present yourself if you intend to make a...

What to do when life destroys your plans.

Image
What do I do when nothing is going right in my life? We all have big plans for our lives, but life doesn't always go according to our plans. Oftentimes, we believe that we have it all figured out; until life throws a curveball and it shatters our plans.  How do you pull yourself together when life has given you a big shocker?  I often pray in moments of great despair. God is my strength! Always keep prayer at the top of your list through the good and bad times.  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6 “Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.” ―  Mahatma Gandhi Here are some other things that you can do: 1. Pause and think. Weigh your options carefully. Consider the next move that you're about to make. Is it worth it?...

How to quit feeling like the biggest loser in life.

Image
You've been thinking about making a change in your life for the longest while. You've surmised that now is the right time to take that big leap of faith. Go on right ahead. Maybe you're thinking about putting an end to partying, smoking, drinking, lying, etc., to commit your life to God, or probably make yourself a better person for yourself, your loved ones, and society.   You can change your life for the better. Maybe you feel like a loser compared to others. You feel like a loser at work. You feel like a loser in life, etc.  Here are a few things that you can do.  1. Take a social media detox. Keep working on yourself! Social media is filled with toxicity. People have a way of resurrecting old photos, videos, and posts as a means of discrediting your efforts. Yes, some will encourage you, but others will tear you down. Try to keep things on the down-low, give social media a break.  Social media can help or hurt you. People are more into other people's lives t...

How to stop taking crap from people.

Image
“Respect yourself and others will respect you.” ―  Confucius “They cannot take away our self-respect if we do not give it to them.” ―  Mahatma Gandhi How to not let people take advantage of you! Knowing your self-worth is one of the most important assignments you could ever take on in life. Why? It will set the tone for every interpersonal relationship that you will encounter in life. Employer-employee relationships, friendships, intimate relationships, etc. In life, you have to teach people how they should treat you.  If you should ever fail at doing so. You'll automatically subject yourself to their crap. They'll talk to you anyhow. They'll give you what they think you deserve. They'll treat you how they think you're worth. Some will treat you like nothing. Let people measure up to your standards. You shouldn't have to devalue yourself to prove to someone that you're worth it. Below I'll share a few high points on how you should stop accepting crap f...

Why am I not further in life? 4 reasons.

Image
“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” Alexander Graham Bell “Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving.” Albert Einstein Have you ever sat down and thought to yourself that you should be much further in life at your age? Have you ever said to yourself that, I should have had my dream car, house, a better education, or a higher-paying job by now? It's frustrating, isn't it? Many have been asking themselves these questions for the longest while. Why do you feel as though your life is a mess?  I'll share a few reasons below. 1. You're comparing your life with others. Our lives aren't all the same. Some have it quite easier than others. As Bob Marley said, "Some feel the rain, others just get wet." If you keep comparing your life with other people who appear to have accomplished that which you think you should...

How to live happy & drama-free.

Image
Are you thinking about starting your life afresh? How about starting it off drama-free? Yes, leave all the shenanigans behind and direct all your focus on what's ahead. Spend more of your energy on the things that you need to get done, as opposed to viewing your life in hindsight.  How to not let things get to your head! “Free yourself from the complexities and drama of your life. Simplify. Look within. Within ourselves, we all have the gifts and talents we need to fulfill the purpose we've been blessed with.” ―  Steve Maraboli 1. Give no more of your peace to toxic people. It's time to let them go. Give no more of your time and energy to toxic people. Show them the way out, or find your way out of their life. Don't absorb any more of their toxicity. Life is already short.  You don't need to respond to negative comments on social media from people who don't know you or try to prove your self-worth to people who are constantly belittling you.  Stop feeling as tho...
